Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said on Monday that the DNC made a mistake in choosing not to hold a primary debate on Fox News, even if Fox is “largely an instrument of the right wing.”

“I don’t think it was the right decision,” Himes told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, pointing out that the network is watched by “millions and millions” of Americans.

The Connecticut congressman argued that if the DNC has to chance to pit its platform of universal health care and retirement security against “whatever nonsense is on the other side,” Democrats will come out looking stronger than the GOP.

“I don’t care what channel you’re on, we will have the appealing idea,” said Himes.

Under President Donald Trump’s somber gaze, a majestic bald eagle soars toward the dawn of a new America. Clutched in the eagle’s talons is the star-spangled banner, fluttering with the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

With speakers like Sebastian Gorka and Boy Wonder Don Jr., this year’s CPAC lineup is feeling a little lackluster. But if the headliners don’t wow you, at least you’ll have the chance to buy this awe-inspiring painting of Trump. It’s what every red-blooded American patriot needs in their living room, and it’ll be sure to render your liberal niece speechless next Thanksgiving!

Julian Raven, who painted the work above, isn’t the only MAGArtist cranking out Trump-as-deity paintings, of course. Jon McNaughton’s artwork, which is equally reverent of POTUS, has gone viral too. And, folks, it’s some powerful stuff:

You see that? That’s our President mournfully restoring our embattled flag by, uh, rubbing another piece of cloth on it.

And of course we can’t forget Ben Garrison’s cruder yet no less deifying vision of Trump greatness:

Just look at those beefy biceps. They’re ready to pound liberal snowflakes with the full force of Trump’s facts and logic.

The reality is that Trump is, famously, a draft-dodger who’s raised a countless number of red flags with his foreign business dealings — all while living on a steady diet of Big Macs.

But for these artists and the rest of the MAGA crowd, it’s not about the real Trump. Trump is a symbol, and that symbol is a PC-smashing, flag-respecting, sixpack-having golden god who’s here to save America from the creeping tentacles of socialism and immigration.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Trump not only owns one of these paintings himself, but has it on proud display in the White House.

The New York Times on Wednesday pushed back on President Donald Trump’s accusation that their journalists didn’t contact him to verify their bombshell report about his Cohen investigation interference.

“The White House was given 5 days to respond to the details of our investigation,” the Times’ PR accounted tweeted in response. “The Times followed up multiple times but no response was given on the record until the President addressed the story after its publication.”
