Last Iowa Poll: Sanders Holds 7-Point Lead


The poll, which surveyed “Likely Democratic Caucus Goers” from January 30 through February 2, shows Sanders at 28 percent, followed by Democratic primary rival Joe Biden at 21 percent.

The Vermont senator and former vice president are the only two candidates to reach over 20 percent in the survey, while former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) are at 15 percent, 14 percent, and 11 percent, respectively.

Emerson noted that Sanders experienced a 2-point drop from its last poll with 7 News Iowa held January 23–January 26.

The new poll surveyed 852 registered Democratic and independent voters via landline, cell phone, and Internet surveys, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 points.
