Walmart Sorry For Baking ISIL Cake After Rejecting Confederate Flag

“Walmart, can you please explain why you're alienating Southern Americans with this trash that you allow to be sold in your store, while at the same point, Confederate memorabilia is not allowed?"

In a statement, Walmart spokesman John Forrest Alex explained that the cake wouldn’t have been made if the “bakery associate” had known what the flag represented.

“It's unfortunate one customer thought to take advantage of an associate who did not know the flag and its meaning… We apologize for the mistake."

Walmart joined major retailers including Amazon and eBay in banning the sale of Confederate flag memorabilia last week, saying that they “never want to offend anyone” with their products. Walmart stores previously carried Confederate flags, as well as clothing with the flag’s design.

The retailers’ decisions came down on the same day that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) called for the Confederate flag to be removed from the statehouse grounds. The recent shooting of nine black parishioners at a historic black church in Charleston has reignited debate over the flag’s meaning.
