Readers Respond to the Sanders' Surge, Pt. 2

Since, like him or hate him, everyone has an opinion about Trump, this should be a referendum election, which is almost impossible for Trump to win, given the above percentages. But this only happens if the Dems nominate a middle of the road, uncontroversial, competent candidate.

If they nominate Bernie, it will no longer be a referendum on Trump, but a “choice” election. Given that the economy is relatively good, and Trump and Republicans will make “socialism” the word of the year to try to scare people, the odds of a Dem win drop significantly.

Bernie could still win, but it seems like an unnecessary risk.
