Republican senators aren't ready to get rid of the filibuster. Not yet, at least.

Even as outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (R-NV) warned Republicans in October that Democrats might nuke the filibuster on Supreme Court nominees if Republicans held them up under a Democratic president, Republicans seem less willing to go there.

In a scathing statement Wednesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) demanded that President-elect Donald Trump rescind his appointment of Steve Bannon as a White House adviser.

Sanders described Bannon as "a racist individual" whose appointment to a high level White House position was "totally unacceptable."

On the floor of the Senate Tuesday, Minority Leader Harry Reid (D- NV) delivered a wide-ranging speech centered on the vulnerability and anxiety liberal voters, minorities, women and members of the LGBT community have been expressing all over the country.

"We have a responsibility to be the voice of the millions of Americans sitting at home, afraid they are unwelcome in Trump’s America," Reid said.
