In the last few months, the governor has used nearly $124,000 in public funds for trips to Great Britain, Canada and Mexico, according to, and has spent more than half of this year outside of the state. Christie announced his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination in June.

New Jersey Democrats, who control both chambers of the legislature, have also floated a proposal that would force Christie to resign as governor in order to run for president.
