Police and a SWAT team responded to reports of a shooting and potential hostage situation at Eagle Nation Cycles that was called in shortly before 9 a.m. After a standoff with the suspects, the Associated Press reported that two individuals were taken into police custody.

Theda Clark Medical Center spokeswoman Megan Mulholland confirmed to the AP that one shooting victim was brought to the emergency room there for treatment. The officer's wounds were reportedly not serious.

Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert called the incident "every community's nightmare" in an interview with Fox 11-TV, the local affiliate. He said that some 30 shots were fired during the altercation.

The Neenah Police Department earlier took to Twitter and Facebook to warn residents to avoid the area, telling those in the vicinity of Main and Doty Streets to shelter in place. Neighboring homes and businesses were evacuated by officers.
