During a somber Thursday appearance at an Atlanta synagogue, Biden told the audience he was considering running for President but was unsure if he “has the emotional energy to run” following the death of his son Beau in May.

"If I can reach that conclusion that we can do it in a fashion that would still make it viable, I would not hesitate to do it," Biden said.

Christie seemed eager for Biden to join the fray, and joked about the vice president returning to his home state of Delaware after losing.

"If it turns out that the vice president is the nominee of the Democratic Party, it will be a great day for the University of Delaware, right?" Christie said, according to the newspaper.

The New Jersey governor’s remarks were met with laughter by his audience of about 30 people, the paper reported.
