Host Megyn Kelly opened the interview with a question about the recent comments of Miss America contestant Meg McGuffin, who said that Republicans should be “absolutely terrified” of the amount of attention Trump receives.

When asked if he was concerned, Christie replied that getting attention is “one of the things that Donald has always been very good at” but that it’s ultimately up to the other candidates “to make sure that people hear our voices.”

“You have to be more exciting and then we would cover you more,” Kelly shot back.

Christie brushed off questions about his languishing poll numbers and the rise of fellow candidate Ben Carson, trying to steer the conversation back to a discussion of “this country’s future.”

“I’ve watched this Jeb Bush-Donald Trump food fight,” Christie said. “Let me clue them in on something: nobody cares.”

Kelly responded that viewers seemed to, and asked, “Why when we put on something with Jeb Bush talking about the economy or Scott Walker talking about labor unions, why doesn’t anybody watch that?”

Christie responded that perhaps people “just don’t agree with or like what they’re hearing from those candidates.” Instead, he suggested, Fox should devote more attention to the Christie campaign.

“Your ratings will go through the roof. Skyrocketing!” Christie said, adopting his best Trump impression. “You want ratings? Christie is ratings. Ratings, Megyn. Total ratings. Big! Very big!”
