"Nobody in America cares," Christie told reporters at a town hall event in Manchester, New Hampshire, as quoted by The Bergen Record newspaper. "It's so dysfunctional and so ugly down there, that it didn't matter to me who the speaker was."
The Republican presidential candidate, who's said he'd rather jump off a bridge than run for Congress. also released a web video Thursday in which he offered another reality check to Washington GOPers he criticized as insular and out of touch with the American people.
"It may not be the most popular thing within my party to be criticizing the Republican Congress, but it needs to be done," Christie said in the video. "I mean it's a joke down there. And now they're having this 'Game of Thrones' thing and are gonna put off an election for another couple of weeks."
"What they should realize is nobody cares," he added. "In the country, nobody cares who the speaker of the House is going to be. They don't care. What they care about is when you become speaker, will you actually do something worthy of the position."
