Even as some congressional lawmakers have come around to Donald Trump and backed his presidential campaign, some lawmakers are still concerned about a Trump nomination, TPM Writer Caitlin MacNeal wrote. Rep. Mo Brooks said that those supporting Trump now are going to “regret” it eventually. Brooks says Republicans can’t “trust Donald Trump with anything he says.”
Agree or Disagree?
"I don't think establishment Republicans have it in them to consolidate around Ted Cruz. He's just too big a jerk, probably unelectable nationwide. And they hate him. There's basically zero chance he wins the nomination. But it's going to be pretty hard for anyone to argue that Cruz has to get out for Rubio after last night's results." - Josh Marshall
"This is hard for you because you think of the students as cuddly bunnies, but you can't. You just have to drown the bunnies ... put a Glock to their heads."
- An Oklahoma university president resigned after calling students bunnies that should be drowned.
BUZZING: Today in the Hive
From a TPM Prime member: "I think Reid should hold made-for-TV "hearings" with empty chairs for the GOP Senators. Make a set that looks like the real thing, and just go ahead as if they were real hearings with the nominee being asked substantive questions and giving substantive responses. Would be a great TV spectacle, and when the GOP claims they are just a sham and a gimmick, agree, and ask for the real thing while maintaining that the real sham is what the GOP in the Senate are doing. I assume they can't do this in the actual Senate hearing rooms, although it would be nice to try. Being stopped by the Sergeant-at-Arms would make for a great show as well. Any ideas on how to make this actually happen? Folks here know anyone on the staff of the Judiciary Committee?"
